Craftsmanship

Madebyhand.

The house of Cueřo

Nothing here is hurried.

Every Cueřo pair is cut, stitched, shaped and polished by hand in Pakistan. Look closely at a finished shoe first, then see how it was made.

Chapter I

Look closer.

Quality lives where most people never look. Keep scrolling to see it for yourself.

The leather

Chosen hide by hide.

Only hides with a clean, even grain are cut for an upper. That surface is what softens and deepens with every wear.

The broguing

Punched for rhythm.

Brogue holes were first made to let water drain from country shoes. We keep them for the rhythm they give the leather.

The medallion

A mark on the toe.

The toe medallion was once where a shoemaker left his mark. On a Cueřo brogue, it still is.

The edge

Where upper meets sole.

The seam most people never notice is the one that holds a pair together for years. It gets the same care as the rest.

Chapter II

From hide to pair.

Every detail you just saw was made in six stages, in the order shoemakers have followed for generations. None of them is rushed, and none is skipped.

  1. Leather swatches in the house colours with a matching Cueřo shoe on each Leather swatches in the house colours with a matching Cueřo shoe on each

    Step 1

    The selection

It starts with the leather. Each hide is checked by hand for grain, thickness and colour before a single piece is cut.

  2. A craftsman cutting tan leather around a brass pattern A craftsman cutting tan leather around a brass pattern

    Step 2

    The cut

Each piece of the upper is cut around a pattern and laid with the grain, so the shoe bends where your foot bends.

  3. A tan brogue upper being stitched on a sewing machine A tan brogue upper being stitched on a sewing machine

    Step 3

    The closing

Closing is the shoemaker's word for stitching the cut pieces into one upper, seam by seam.

  4. A craftsman hammering a brogue upper over the last at the workbench A craftsman hammering a brogue upper over the last at the workbench

    Step 4

    The lasting

The upper is pulled tight over the last and tacked into shape. This is where flat leather becomes a shoe.

  5. Hand-stitching a tan brogue with an awl and waxed thread Hand-stitching a tan brogue with an awl and waxed thread

    Step 5

    The hand stitch

Some seams matter too much for a machine. They are sewn with an awl and waxed thread, one stitch at a time.

  6. A gloved hand polishing a finished brown brogue A gloved hand polishing a finished brown brogue

    Step 6

    The polish

Polish is worked in by hand, layer on layer, and every pair is inspected before it leaves the workshop.

Chapter III

Wornforyears.

A Cueřo pair is not made for one season. The leather softens, takes the shape of your foot and, with a little care, looks better every year you wear it.
